The Truth about CoQ10 and Statins

The benefits of CoQ10 are numerous, and it is one of the most important compounds for maintaining the proper functioning of the heart. A deficiency of CoQ10 (CoEnzyme Q10) can lead to various types of heart disease among other serious health conditions.

What is CoQ10 and why is it so important?

CoQ10 is a naturally occurring compound found in the body, and a powerful antioxidant. It is a coenzyme, similar to a vitamin, and as such assists in various internal processes.

Specifically, CoQ10 plays an essential role in the production of cellular energy. Without this energy, your cells cannot function. The heart requires huge amounts of energy to function which is why CoEnzyme Q10 is such an important compound for proper heart function. The benefits of CoQ10 are crucial to maintaining cardiovascular health.

We Question Splenda's Safety

Splenda's manufacturers have attempted to imply that Splenda is natural and safe by using the slogan, "made from sugar so it tastes like sugar." However, by the end of the complex chemical processing Splenda goes through, it resembles nothing found in nature. This product is no way shape or form natural, nor is it a real sugar. It isn't even close.

What's more, the long-term safety of Splenda has never been established. In fact, there have only been six human trials to date, the longest of which lasted three months.

You will be shocked to learn that the absorption of Splenda into the human body was studied on a grand total of six men. That was the only human study performed that looked at this. From this the FDA allowed them to generalize this study to the entire human population.

The study was published in a journal that accepted a number of studies that were entirely funded by the manufacturer. The study was so poorly designed that it would not even merit a rejection letter from a major peer reviewed journal. Yet the company was able to convince the FDA that this tiny study could be extrapolated to the entire spectrum of humans on the planet.

That would include children, women, elderly and those with any chronic illness, none of whom were examined. This study was a joke.

Currently there are absolutely no long-term safety studies for Splenda in humans, only a two year study in rats.

How to Avoid One of Today’s Major Health Challenges

Harvard researchers who recently completed an 18-year study of more than 125,000 people found that taking extra magnesium significantly reduces the risk of Type 2 Diabetes. You should aim for at least 150 to 200 milligrams per day from supplements or -- even better -- the food you eat. Not surprisingly, processed foods are usually stripped of this nutrient. The foods highest in magnesium are leafy green vegetables, legumes, nuts, and seeds.

All Teas Are Not Created Equal

Next time you think you're doing something good for your health by reaching for a bottle of iced tea instead of a soft drink, think again. It is hard to find a bottle of tea that does not contain sugars or artificial sweeteners. If you want to include tea drinking as part of a healthful lifestyle brew it yourself and drink it hot or cold.

Teas such as green tea are packed with high levels of antioxidants, polyphenols and other healthful compounds. Drinking tea on a regular basis may promote heart health and reduce the risk of cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, cataracts and dental cavities.

On the other hand bottled teas contain considerably fewer of these beneficial components and, worse yet, many are essentially no more than diluted sugar water. At Oregon State University in Corvallis, researchers found that ready-to-drink teas typically had polyphenols and antioxidant levels 10 to 100 times lower than those in conventionally brewed tea. We offer a high quality affordably priced Green Tea Extract.

How to Take Accurate Blood Pressure Readings

When measuring blood pressure, it's important to make sure your reading is as accurate as possible.  One way to ensure you get a proper reading is by keeping your arm bent.

According to investigators from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine and the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, blood pressure readings can be 10% higher if a person's arm is held parallel to the body.

So bend that arm!  Make sure your elbow is at the right angle to your body with the elbow flexed at heart level.  This should give the most precise reading.  And for the record, it doesn't matter if you're sitting, standing or laying down for the test as long as you're in the same position every time you're tested.

Here’s another tip:

If you test daily or weekly be sure to test as close to the same time of the day as possible. I recommend you stand for 60 seconds with your arms hanging to your side. Then simply sit down, bend your arm and take your reading. Following these guides will ensure consistently accurate readings. If you have concerns about high blood pressure or if you are dealing with hypertension, check out our herbal blood pressure formula and see how it can work wonders. It's very effective and affordable too. Each bottle contains 120 easy to swallow capsules, which is a 2 month supply.

Two Simple Nutrients Prevent Vision Loss

Modern science doesn't yet know exactly what causes age-related macular degeneration (AMD) - but a new study implicates two dietary deficiencies.

Working with a group of people between the ages of 60 and 80, the study - sponsored by the National Institutes of Health National Eye Institute and published in Archives of Ophthalmology - found that those who ate more than two medium servings of fish per week (and, consequently, more Omega-3 Fatty Acids) were least likely to suffer from muscular degeneration.

The researchers then split the study subjects into five groups, based on the level of vitamin D in their blood - and found that those in the group with the highest vitamin D levels had a 40 percent lower risk of early AMD than those in the group with the lowest vitamin D levels.

Get plenty of sunshine to increase your production of vitamin D and eat wild Coldwater fish, such as salmon (avoid all farmed fish). You can also get a 120 day supply of the planets most potent omega 3 fish oil for less than 20 bucks. That’s less than $5.00 per month. Save on Omega-3 Here.
