I am fair skinned, why can't I tan easily?
The difference between people with fair skin and those with darker complexions is based on heredity and their genes. Blonde, blue-eyed people of Scandinavian and European descent produce much less melanin than someone of Mediterranean descent. Because they have less melanin in their systems, those with fair skin tend to burn easily and often find it difficult to get a dark tan.
I can easily, but can't get beyond a certain level. Will tanning pills help me?
This is called your tanning plateau. The amount of color you can achieve depends on the amount of melanin your system produces.
